For over a week now my right pointer finger has hurt. Just at the tip and the very end of my nail. I can see no visible injury to the finger and the nail still looks fine, just don't know what could be causing the pain. It is quite extreme when I touch it, like when I type. I really don't know what to do about it. My husband said he thought it looked a bit swollen. I think it looks only a bit swollen, there is no redness that I can see. It also hurts a bit when fully extended.

Any idea of what could be causing it? I hate to go to the doctors over something that is nothing.
