Hi! My husband and I are having trouble installing a ceiling fan light kit to our Hampton Bay ceiling fan. There is a blue and a white wire both labeled "for light", so we knew we had the correct wires, but when we wire white-white and blue-black, as was instructed to do-- we get no light---only the fan works. We'll appreciate any advise you can give! Thanks!

I assume the black you refer to is in the light kit. This may sound silly but you did notice that there are two pull chains, right? Does this fan have a remote? If so, press and hold down the light button.

Thank you for answering! Sorry, yes, the black wire is in light kit. We did try the pull chain for the light---no luck. The fan has no remote. We took a light bulb from another lamp so we know for sure the bulb was good. Hope this info helped! Thanks again!:(

If you can reach the wire nuts before the pull chain switch for the light remove the nuts and test for 120 vac. Be careful, space is tight and 120 can take you off the ladder. If there is no power coming into the switch you may need to drop the fan and check to see if the incoming 120 vac was ever hooked up to the fan and light. There may be two supply connections, one for the fan and one for the light kit. On the other hand if power comes into the switch but not out you have a bad switch. Pretty small chance of this since it has not been used.

Well, guess what? We learned something! The fan was not wired for the light-the other end of the wire was tucked up in the ceiling! We then wired everything --and it works! We have a ceiling fan light! Thank you so much for your advise. You really helped.
