Me and my girlfriend have recelty split up after 2 years together she had been feeling distant recently nad I saw texts from her boss saying that they missed each other she explained that nothings had happened and she was just taking confort because he had shown her a little affection and as I said we were distant.other things have went on in the relationship (me lying to her about things like who I was with on a night out and other stupid things and she also sawi have registered on dating websites which I had register too before I was with her) it all came to at the weekend when her boss was at a family party and I ended up fighting with him after it.we didn't speak the full weekend and she says so much has went on she doesn't want to be with me anymore.we met last night and had show down talks were she said we doesn't feel the same about me anymore but we both ened up having a heart to heart I was trying to get her to give us another chance and she was aruging how many chances do we need to make things work and she said she needs space she said a few months which I was a bit shocked at .during the heart to heart we cuddled a lot and we cried a lot but came to the agreement that we needed space.its been hard trying not to talk to her and before I left after the heart to heart we kissed and we both said love you.im so confused how much time do I give her? Do I cut off all contact during that time ? What do I do ?

You start moving on and accept the fact that you may not be together again.

Breaks are seldom good for a relationship. They're usually a sign that things just aren't working out. Don't get me wrong, there are relationships that have benefited from a little time apart but the odds are against it.

Focus on your future, whether she wants to be a part of it or not.

There's no set amount of time to give someone, everyone's different. For now, break all contact with her and focus on yourself and keeping your chin up. She'll contact you when she's ready to either get back together, or leave things the way they are. Just ready yourself for either scenario.

Best of luck!

I was thinking maybe a month tops if she hasn't contacted me then I would contact her if she doesn't want to be with me then it'll be hard but ill move on.just holding onto the hope that we get back together.we've had our troubles and got through them just don't know why she's so unwilling to try again after having that heart to heart

You don't contact her at all. She wanted the break, the contact should come from her, although it may not. Move on, don't sit around waiting to hear from her.

A lot of people draw the line somewhere. When and how depends on who they are and everyone's different. Maybe she's drawing the line, or thinking about drawing the line and needs time to think. It's very hard to say.

Wait it out, don't let your hopes get the best of you and keep your chin up. You'll get through it.
