My 20 yr old step daughter's boyfriend beat her up and held her hostage in their apartment for 2 days. She finally was able to get out and file a police report and he got arrested. She had no place to go and couldn't stay at the apartment so I let her stay with my wife and I. she stayed for 3 days then bailed her byfirend out of jail and is staying with his mom. We told her that she needed to get her stuff out of our house because she was no longer welcome on 10/2. She is refusing to move any of her stuff out of the house. We changed the locks and again called her and texted her, her boyfriend and her boyfriends mom and she responded and said she would get it when ever she wants. We live in avondale Arizona. I need her stuff out of my house and would rather not have her around because of the violent ex boyfriend and I am also concerned about the stuff in my home getting stolen or broken. How can I get rid of her stuff and at what point can I throw it out in the trash

Pack it up, put it on the front lawn or driveway and tell her to come and get it before the sprinklers soak the boxes.

I would tell her, if she doesn't get her stuff by x date, that you will put it in a storage facility in her name. Most such facilities, give the first month for free or at a nominal cost.

ScottGem, where do you know of such storage places? Not where I live.
I would call the police station to find the abandoned property ordinance local to you, 30, 60, or 90 days.
If her stuff has been there long enough, I would send a certified letter to the bf's mom's address saying that every item is going to Goodwill on the day 14 days from the date of the postmark.
(How much did she move in for a 3 day stay?)

Here's one I found: Coney Island Storage Units - Self Storage Brooklyn, NY 11224 (http://www.secureselfstorage.net/new-york-self-storage/coney-island-brooklyn-11224)
Driving around on LI, I see lots of places that offer the first month free or for $1.
And the key here is that a) it was only a 3 day stay and b) she is no longer there. So this is not a tenant issue.

Ah. So that's where Coney Island is exactly. Often wondered; never got around to checking on it. :)
