Hi
I have very simple question. I'm from pakistan and have tax treaty of 5000$. I'm filling 1040nr-ez.
I have two forms.
1040S (1900$, No tax with-held) from school for on campus work. Since 1900$ are less than 5000$ exemption amount so school didn't issue w2 form.
I was given W2 form from company. I was paying regular taxes while I was on OPT work from day one.
My status was F-1 in 2006. But I was full time student only until Mid of may,06.
Question.
How can I use my remaining exemption amount? 5000-1900=3100$
Thanks

You can use the exemption against your OPT salary, which I assume was greater than $5,000.

Thank you sir, one more question. Can I subtract 3100$ (remaining amount of exemption) from my w2 wages and write that in line 3 of 1040NR-ez?
Can I also use the standard deduction of 3300$ for single person?
Thanks
