I have a half dollar dates 1776-1976 with no mint mark on it is this normal ? Also the lettering on the back side is thicker than normal I have other half dollars with the same dates yet they have mint marks on them plus the lettering on them is normal. It looks like this coin was double struck. The coin is in really good shape you can see everything clearly.did they make these coins with no mint mark? If not what would be the value of this coin?if u would like pictures tell me were to send them. I showed a coin dealer were I live I didn't even tell him what I thought right away he said it has no mint mark he looked at it with a magnifying glass for awhile the offered me $5 I asked him was that normal for them not to have a mint mark he told me it was common I would like a second opinion by someone who isn't going to rip me off so her I am .ive been collecting for about a year now.
