Women with lower abdominal pain have a tough time, sometimes (I did, for years). After ruling out appendicitis, usually the reproductive organs are looked at for tipped uterus, cysts, and fibroids. After that, a doctor might look at the bladder and bowel.
You can get nerve pain lower down from sagging organs as they age. The uterus can press on the bladder. If you feel more pain as your bowels move feces into the rectum, it could be the sigmoid colon sagging. You could have a femoral hernia, where the bowel pouches down the leg. You could have polyps or diverticulitis. Pinched nerves don't show up on ultrasound or MRI or CAT, of course.
So some may decide you are a hypochondriac.
My problem in my left abdomen turned out to be the sacral nerve. It took a chiropractor to figure it out after almost 40 years of getting nowhere with MDs, since it didn't show on any tests.
