Hi - I replaced my furnace last year with the top-of-line Heil G9MAC Modulating Gas Furnace. The system cycles on and off frequently which I heard is normal for a modulating furnace. My issue is with the inducer motor which runs for 40-50 seconds at each start-up and makes a loud whiny noise which can be heard throughout our 2-story home. The noise is extremely annoying and stressful to listen to The vendor (Heil) indicates this is normal and there is nothing that can be done about it. My question is is this normal for owners of other newer furnaces? Our previous Heil furnace (10 years old) was much quieter then this new model.

I have a Goodman in 1 house and an Armstrong in another. I can hear the inducer until the furnace kicks on. Is yours in the attic? I have heard of people installing insulating washers between the inducer and the metal mount. Supposedly reduces transmitted noise to the ducting.
