It hasn't been doing it as much since its been winter but with spring and summer coming just around the corner I want to fix this problem... I have heard that it might be the throttle positioning sensor or that my throttle cable is too tight... it really only does it when I am in traffic and stop and go then stop it idles really high then low then back to high then is sounds like its going to idle so high that its going to explode.. how do I solve this problem?

Sounds like its your thermostat, its like the car is over heating, when I replaced the one in my Dodge Spirit it did the same thing, then I replaced the thermostat and it hasn't done it since, a thermostat is only like 6 dollars plus the gasket is like .98 cents to 2 dollars... its more of a surge, where it surges between reving high then low then high then low.

1. Check/replace Idle Air Control Valve.
2. Check/replace Fast Idle Thermo Valve. This part is not serviceable.
3. Test/replace igniter.
4. Check idle rpm/timing.
