I have never had this happen before. And I let my aunt borrow my car today. She says she didn't do anything weird. But I don't know.

So anyway. The breaklights are ON. All the time. No matter what.
It killed the battery while my aunt was at her doctor. And my roadside had to come and jump it. It took the jump, and the alternator charged it back up no problem and the test read just fine. So its not the battery.

I pulled the fuse, to prevent it from killing my battery again. (ill put it back in before driving to the shop, I would rather people think I am breaking even when I'm not, than to think I am not breaking when I am, you know?)

Is there any simple easy fixes to this that anyone is aware of before I take it in?

I am auto savvy as far as basic matenence and care. I can change a tire, oil, break fluid, tranny fluid, filters, very simple basic electric.

I would hate to go all the way out to the shop only to find it was something I could fix here at home.

. Check for a missing brake pedal pad, which presses against the brake switch. If it's missing, there will be a hole there. New pads cost several bucks and just press in.

. Spray the brake switch with WD-40 and work it several times.

Thanks hon. That's my first step today. Everyone I've talked to so far has said to check the switch.

If it's a pedal pad that needs replacing, you may have to remove the driver's seat for access.

Hey tx :) thanks for your help! Problem is solved. My dad came over and helped me (im a big girl, and it's a little two door, I couldn't get under the dash lol) and the nut on the break light switch was loose. He adjusted it and break lights are back to normal :D
