Wonder if anyone can help on this one? I’m thinking of buying a house in Cornwall with its own water supply from a near by well (early retirement here I come!). My solicitor says that I needed to have some radon measurements done on the well, and they’ve come back as having 900 Bq/l. Apparently this is environmental radiation, which means it’s okay, but I’m not so sure. Anyone think I should look to buy elsewhere, as I don’t really fancy dying from cancer two weeks after retiring!

We have to live with these limits now, and truth be told, the limit you post is not all that far out of wack compared to all the limits in this list of radiations limits in almost anything, anywhere, andy.

What do your neighbours say about this? They have probably lived with this for years and in well water we really have more to worry about then radiation contamination. There are contaminants that will destroy you a lot faster and with more devastating results if you care to think about it.

I think you should buy your Cornwall property, live and enjoy what your retirement offers you !
