Hi
I was on F1 ( OPT status ) from Jan 9, 2006 to Sep 30, 2006. I changed to H1 from Oct 1, 2006. I also chnged my employer in Nov 13, 2006. So I have two W-2 forms. Both my employers started deducting Social Security and Medicare when on H1 status.
I would like to know:
What all tax forms I will have to file?
Will I be in dual staus for 2006?
Can I claim Social Security and Medicare deductions in 2006?

An elaborate description about how I should be filing my 2006 taxes would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

No one can give a complete answer until we know how long you were on F1. But it would appear at this point that you are a NR and should file 1040NR.

I agree with TaxSearcher's analysis.

Also, are you married?

I was on F-1 from Aug 2004 to Sep 2006. I went to India in Dec 2004 for a month. I did not leave US since then. I was never married.

Thanks

You are NR -- file a 1040NR. Social security should be deducted once you are on H1B.

Agree with TaxSearcher's answer; nothing to add!
