I am 77 years old and unemployed. I own a home and am still paying a mortgage. The home was built in 1953 and now needs some repairs including the kitchen and a new roof. Are there any grants I could apply for in order to accomplish this?

Not really, at least Federal Grants,

There are at times local grants or low interest loans from local groups.
Example, normally each year, there is in Atlanta GA a group that gets a Large Federal grant, along with local funds and corporation funds.

They may help 500 to1000 families, and take application though local senior groups.
They often get 15,000 or so applications so obviously most do not get helped.

Also if you were a veteran, or if your spouse was a veteran, check with local VFW or American legion. They often will help local members in need.

You can check with Catholic Charities to see if they have any contacts.

You check with the local religious group of your chocie that you belong to, and ask them for help.

You can check with local realitors to see if they have or know of any programs.
