I was wondering if anyone can help me? My step-son through marriage lives with my husband and myself. My husband and his ex wife adopted this child, the ex wife is actually the child's biological grandmother. My husband has took care of this child since the divorce came final and didn't try to get support for him. Now work has slowed and we need a little help but after calling social services they are telling us that we can't make her pay because she gets an SSI check. Is this really a law in North Carolina? Is there anything we can do?
