I live in a apartment complex with my boyfriend and my daughter we have lived here for almost 2 years just recently my boyfriend and I got into a altercation where he went to jail, that was on a Saturday the following Tuesday I was handed a 3 day notice and figured it was because my boyfriend was in jail and he pays all the bills, but later Tuesday evening a few tenants brought it to my attention that the manager Mary was telling everyone I did drugs and to stay away from me because of that guilty by association. That really upset me for the fact that I am a recovering addict and have been clean since March 12th 2011 I was on parole and discharged my number Dec 2011. I have worked really hard to prove to the ones I love that I have changed after being a addict for 25 years so what should I do or is there anything I can do

Hello h:
There's TWO parts to any slander suit... What was SAID, and how much it COST you.. If it didn't COST you anything, then you don't have a lawsuit..
I suppose I'd move. If your rent is paid, you don't have to move till after he gives you a WRITTEN 30 notice.

Also, your reasoning is faulty about being evicted. It might very well be because your boyfriend pays all the bills, and the gossip you are hearing might have nothing to do with failure to pay rent. Is October paid or not?

Just from a practical standpoint, would any of the other tenants say that the manager, Mary, said what you have quoted here, in those words? Or is this a case of people not willing to come forward.

Hello,
Were you living on 701 9th Ave. in Redwood City, Ca. My manager's name is Mary and I am having problems with her as well.

Hello a:
There's probably MORE than one bad landlord in the country...
Why don't you tell us, in DETAIL, what problem you're having, and maybe we can help.

"Hello,

I'll take things a step farther. I'll bet more than one manager is named Mary.
I also would caution you about posting an address an a manager's name. You did read that this thread is about slander, right?
