I live at the east coast of New Zealand and was wondering what I need and how to install a toilet from scratch using a sump

First off you won't be using a sump pump. You will install a ejector pump system.
You ask about a toilet. Because you have the tear up the floor any how why not install a full bath ,(see image)?
If you're handy with tools and have some plumbing skills we can walk you through the installation/ Your thoughts? Tom

Thanks for your reply Tom. A full bath would be great! But when I say from scratch I mean from scratch. I live in a shed and use a long drop, I have no experience with plumbing I just wanted to know what Im getting myself into, so your advice is most helpful. Your attachment is pretty straight forward but tank, line, vent drain?? Has got me?? I need more detail 'plumbing for dummies' I must say. Cheers

For me to start you off I need more information. Where would your toilet connect to? Would be a sewer main or would you have to install a septic tank and system? How close is the nearest water supply? Why do you figure you'll need an ejector pump? What will you be pumping up to? Back to you. Tom

No septic tank, no sewer line, no water supply, I will have to invest in all of these. I have not yet done a background check of the water supply but was hoping to use a water tank for this (If possible?) I wasn't sure about the pump not having any experience I thought that might be my best bet so I'm just going off your advice. Cheers

You're living in a shed with no water or sewer and the electricity is furnished with a drop cord. What's your location? To install what you wish requires sewer. Water and electricity already in p-lace. We can help but first we have to have the basics to work with. Have you any idea where you can come up with sewer and water? Back to you. Tom

Sorry I got lost in here and can't find the previous question. I did have a brief read and yes I do live in a shed, with a long drop and solar panel or boil our hot water if need be. I will check out the water and sewer lines and et back to you. There is a hotel 500 or so meters away so I'm guessing that there there somewhere.

You're lost no more. I found the thread and brought it back up. I'm going to give you your own thread,

There is a hotel 500 or so meters away so I'm guessing that there there somewhere. I would find out if the hotel's connected to a public sewer. 500 meters is a long way to run a 4" sewer line
. We're talking 1640 feet with a drop of 1/8" to the foot giving you a total fall of 20.5 feet and that's just not possible,
Figure on installing a septic system and I doubt if the utility company would extend the water service so count on drilling a well and installing a pump. That's just to get you started let alone the cost of the fixtures and the material to install them plus the labor if you don't do the work yourself. Are you prepared for that kind of expense? Thanks for that Tom. I am prepared for this. We have a well already for our drinking water. I was thinking that when we were little we did have a functional toilet but that was torn out years maybe decades ago, I will have to talk to my mum about that one so I'll get back to you with that. I am prepared on doing the labor mainly myself seeing I have a lot of time on my hands with the help from the professionals and yourself.

Firdt things first. Get the sewer and water lined up, Cleck the well to be sure you can install a well point and pump. Next dig down to the pipe that was under the toilet and trace it back to the septic system. When you have something to connect to then we can walk you through the rough in. Sound like a plan? Yeah Tom that sounds great. All of the East Coast is on septic tanks. A guy has a business that does all the pumping for this. Is it still possible to line up the sewer and water? We have a point for the well, we have a hose that runs from it and I'm pretty sure a pump can be installed there. We will just go with that and then carry on from there. Please be patient with me this is all new to me.

The drainage will be the most difficult so get the septic tank checked out and let me know where the inlet pipe in in relation to your shed. Good luck. Tom
