Good day,
I am 27 years old. I have been suffering from TMj for about 6 years. It all had happened because of a yawn in 2006. I could open my mouth only 20 mm wide, normaly I had 45 mm. I was diagnosed with anterior disc displacement without reduction on both joints.I had tried everything, from mouth guards to all altenative terapy and medication. But the pain did not stop. I had 2 athroscopies. One done last year on both joints. And one done at the beginig of this year only on the right side which is the worse one.
After the first arthroscopy I ended up opening less. Now I can open around 35 mm. But in the morning I can open only to stuck one finger.
My question is that if it is normal after 5 months to happen something like this?
I am wearing a mouth guard, but is not helping, cause the muscles and the joint is like stuck, and I have lots clicking and pops .
I can't sleep on the sides cause in the morning I get a locked jaw.
And also I feel that something sandy, like a piece of something is in the joint and moves, and also it does not let me open properly?
What could be the cause of this?
Could it be adherence still there?
They have told me that the condyle has a strange shape, is not round , it is pointed and also the glenoid fossa is larger.
I would love to get your professional opinion on my case.
I don't know what to do any more and what actions to take.
Thank you.
Best Regards
Yana
