Will my mother dog have any problems letting go of one of her puppies. I feel really bad about giving one of the pups away as it is and I don't want the mother getting stressed and going off her food or anything. And the opposite way around, will the pup go off food for a day or get seriously depressed cause I only want what's best for them. Can you give me any ideas of what to suspect.

If she has weaned them, I don't think she will have a problem. All puppies have to leave eventually and I have never heard of the mother grieving, nor the pup. Of course all new pups have an adjustment period when they go to their new homes, but dogs are resilient and things generally work out of the best.

Expect all to work out well.

Dogs aren't like people. They don't long to be parents, and they don't care if their offspring are taken away once they're weaned. They don't love their babies like human beings do.

Mom and baby will be fine.

I think my girl was glad to see the back of them by the time they got to 8 weeks. She much preferred to be separated from them once they were past the little puppy stage as she isn't much of a disciplinarian and got fed up with them hanging off her ears/climbing on her/trying to suckle. Dogs like things to stay the same so I'm sure your girl will be relieved once the rabble has gone and things can get back to normal. If you are concerned, you can make sure to give her extra attention or even some training to distract her. Dogs are pretty shallow.
