Hi. My name's Dave and I'm new to this forum. I've browsed here and feel I might can get some assistance.
I'm a mature 48-year-old married man seeking to change occupational fields. I'm currently employed as an Automation Technician with a large electrical firm in Columbus, Georgia but am underpaid. I want to drive truck so I can better provide for my family but am not sure how to approach it because of my criminal background. I would fall into the occupation naturally as my family owned a diesel repair center in Phoenix, Arizona and I love to operate equipment.
My background consists of two DUI's in 2001 and various thefts over 20 years ago. Additionally, I've only had my license back since March 2012. No moving violations however, never have had that problem.
How exactly does an ex-felon get quality CDL training and a subsequent driving job in a manner that will not cause financial hardship?
Not sure what else to include here so will stop for now. Hoping for suggestions. Thanks.

Each school has a different requirement. You just have to ask all of them before you apply. Jobs are tough for drivers too.
There are lots of high paying jobs in the Dakotas and all the oil and gas fracking areas, but the cost of living has shot up too.
