What does a guadian et litum actually do? Also is it common for a guardian et litum to tell a non-custodial parent one thing and then tell the person that has custody of the children something totally different'

It's guardian ad litem. It's a person who is appointed by the Court to act in the best interest of the child.

No, it's not common for a GAL to tell one parent one thing and the other parent another BUT what specifically was said?

I've worked with GALs and some of them don't share what one parent has said with the other under any circumstances.

Can you tell me something about the situation?

Yes, they are there to represent the Child, They are not on any parents side. NO they would not tell one thing to one and another to the other, unless things have changed or unless they know something that can not be told to one parent at this time
