What is your education so far, and where have you worked in the past?

Paranormal investigators do not get paid... well, unless they happen to get their own TV show.

What does that mean, "pursue the paranormal"? Like odinn7 said, the "jobs" are not paying ones. It's an avocation (hobby), not a viable way to make money.

I appreciate what you are saying, but I have come to a point in my life where I want to do something else

Why paranormal? Do you hope to make money?

I don't think I will ever make a lot of money if any, but you have to do what makes you happy in life

Thank you, but I do get the feeling that you are trying to discourage me

I am simply trying to find out why you have interest in this field so I can advise you with how to proceed. You are knocking yourself out to not answer my questions except in a cursory way. So I gave up.

WG isn't trying to discourage you so much... but trying to get you to understand that this is a HOBBY interest. Odds are against you in getting a TV show... and to be taken seriously in the field you will need to NOT charge people... as most paranormal groups do not and look down on those that do. Simply put, get the idea of making money off the paranormal field out of your head.

And what courses or books could she avail herself of or which associations/organizations could she join to help her further this interest?

To pursue this as a further course of actual study there are many roads to go down.
There are paranormal conferences, and even local groups may be willing to take someone on as a sort of "apprentice".
There are PLENTY of books to read up on. Personally the only books I can suggest are ones that take a biblical stance on the subject... so the type of book you want will depend on the world view you are trying to cater to.
Some churches even off courses of study on the subject of demonology... but again, what world view are you trying to cater to?
Needless to say there is a mountain of resources available on the subject.

Nobody is trying to discourage you... We are being realistic.
I was a paranormal investigator with 2 different groups and there is absolutely no money to be made. You cannot charge someone to investigate their place... nobody will pay for a "ghost hunter"... It's fun, sure... but it costs too. You will need your own equipment and that is something that you will need to buy for yourself and never get reimbursed for.
I have 3 digital cameras, a night vision camcorder with an extended IR light, a thermocouple thermometer, digital voice recorder, and assorted other things for the purpose of paranormal investigations. I spent nearly $1000 for this stuff, using my own money. I never got paid and never expected to.
I was also a moderator on a forum for a popular ghost hunting group on TV and I saw many people come and go... none of them made money.
You can search the internet but there are no groups making money at this... at least no honest groups that is. The only ones making money are the ones that have TV shows and you're not likely to get that.
Good luck at this.
