Adult fiction, female author. Setting: the South, maybe in the 1930s or so? The little girl's family lived in a railroad station (I guess her father worked there and they had a tiny apt there). However, no bathroom so had to use the station restroom for bathing (at the sinks!). I think this came out in late 1980s or sometime in the 1990s. Anyone know what the title and author are?
