I found information that my ex had some stock. He didn't keep his paperwork together so I am finding a little information about some stock that is worth nothing and some work some value but I am not sure.

Anyway I need to search his name somehow or social security number to see if there is some stock I don't know about that I should be selling.

Thank you,
Noreen

This would most likely be covered in any will, but as they are you EX, it's unlikely you would have any claim anyway.

Notwithstanding why you have any interest in stock your "ex" may have owned - watch the mail. If he has stock in a company they will send him an annual report each year, and if it pays dividends they would also send him a 1099-DIV tax form each January. Also if the stock is held in a brokerage account you would see it on his monthly or quarterly statements.

There is no such record, You will have to "find it" check banks for safety deposit boxes, where he has accounts, Check all of his closets for papers. Watch his mail for the next year or more for statements that come in.

As noted, as a ex, unless named in a will you have no rights in this.
