I have a neighbor who farms and raises cattle. We have been neighbors for over twenty years. In the last fifteen years this neighbor has poisoned five of my dogs. He had attempted to hold my bull as hostage for money. His cows have run down my fences and then got mad because my cows and horses hadgot out. He had just ran over my dog while my grandson and I were taking a walk on the county road that runs next to my house not my neighbors. He just ran over the dog and drove off. I contacted the sheriffs office. A deputy came out took pictures and said she would take my statement put the pictures dhe took and put it in a report. I am afraid to go for a walk with my children and dogs because of this family. What rights do I have to ptotect my children animals. I live in Montana.

You may keep your dogs pinned and on leases, so they are not lose.
.
While it is illegal ( normally) to kill dogs, if your dog gets on his property, he can protect the property, and have you charged with the dog being on his property

You can sue him for the value of the dog , he ran over, assuming the dog was not in the road, but was off the side of the road, and/or on a lease.

if the dog was in the middle of the road and got hit, he may even be able to sue you for damages to his vechile. Not right but then dog is not suppose to be on road.

if he damages your fense, sue him for the value.
f he will not return your animal, report him for theft.
