My 95 ex accord coupe instrument cluster gauges are not working, the clock has no power nor can I work the power windows or sunroof. I checked both fuse boxes but the fuaes were good. The speedo and rpm gauges were acting up prior to this then the odometer just stopped working , now the sunroof and windows stopped and I have to put the key in the shift lock to put the car in gear so I can start it. I can't put the car in gear unless I do this. Please help!

With the ignition switch turned to ON (Position II), test for "power through the fuses," using a test light or multimeter. I suspect there will not be power to a number of fuses, which will indicate that the ignition switch is bad and needs replacing. Really, the shear number of items not working already pretty much confirms this.

Ignition Switch Replacement

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Remove dashboard lower cover and knee bolster.

3. Disconnect 5-P connector from under dash fuse box and 7-P connector from main wiring harness.

4. Remove steering column covers.

5. Insert key and turn it to "0".

6. Remove two screws from switch and replace.

Once you are done, remove your key from the ignition and spray WD-40 in the lock mechanism. Everything should now work "as smooth as silk."
