I'm 18 and all 18 years of my life I've been verbally abused. I get yelled at over the stupidest things. If my little brother lost his sippie cup it's my fault, I didn't close the lid on the toilet after using it, I stay in my room too much then get yelled at to go to my room when I'm not in it. Just today I got yelled at to clean my room so I did but apparently I didn't clean it at all in their eyes. So I stayed in my room and started crying because they were cussing at me and told me I'm a slob and I'm discusting... That wa my mom then my dad yelled at me and I was crying so he yelled even more because I told him that I already heard it from mom then I wouldn't look at my floor which I had swept clean to look at a piece of paper that had fallen so my aggressively grabbed my arms and turned me around to look it hurt really bad and I just fell to the ground crying. I don't know what to do anymore. When I was 13 I tried killing myself but I didn't go through with it and now I'm wishing I hadn't backed out. They tell me I'm fat, I'm stupid, worthless, annoying, a up, a mistake an they even say they don't want me in their house yet when I try to move out they threaten me to go back to their house. I'm so stressed out I'm a full time college student. I'm so depressed that I don't even want to go to my classes anymore. I don't see a point in my life anymore. All I ever get is negative. No one tells me they love me I'm just so mentally exhausted. I just want to sleep forever.

My grandfathers VA benefits pay for my college and I drive a POS truck that breaks down a lot. My parents don't pay anything for me. My grandparents pay for all of what I own but when I try to go to live with them my mom threatens my grandma and she gets scared and I'm force to go back to her house

Can you move into a college dormitory?

I go to a community college so there's no dorms

There may be some type of grants for school and housing you are entitled to. Ask at your college office for some help. You need to get out of your home. Have you looked for a job?

What threats does your mom make to your grandmother?

You are an adult now and can move out any time.

Look in to transferring to a school further away.
You are 18 and can live where you want. I don't understand why you can't move in with your grandparents.

I work at a haunted house and I'm looking for a second job.

My grandmother won't tell me what she says but all she says is that my mom threatens her.

I'm trying to get into a university far from home. I'm just waiting on results but then I also don't want to go because I don't have the money to afford a dorm. When I was 14 I moved in with my grandparents, at 15 my mom went to her house while I was in school and packed all my things in trash bags then when I came home she told me I had to go to her house I went upstairs to my room and locked the door, my dad opened it and my mom grabbed my pony tail and dragged me down the stairs. My grandma stayed in her room and didn't defend me..

Have your parents filled out the FAFSA?

Have your parents filled out the FAFSA?

I didn't qualify for financial aid

But if you fill out the FAFSA yourself, that will change the situation.

Have you been accepted by this far away school? Their financial aid office will work with you on tuition and housing. You might be able to work for room and board somewhere with a family or do work on campus to earn room and board.

Terrific choice!

Are you in state now or out of state?

If you fill out the FAFSA, as a student with no income, it will open up many new possibilities. You will not be basing your numbers on your parent's salaries, so it will change. See if you can amend your FAFSA.

You can find a help phone number on their website. I've used it before.

You were 15 then. You are grown now. Your mom can't make you move back home.

It won't stop her. I could be 25 and she would still threaten me. She doesn't want me around yet she won't let me leave. I wish I understood why but I think it's because she needs someone to yell at... Sort of like a punching bag

That's why we are urging you to move away to college. You are 18. Don't allow yourself to be a victim a minute longer.
