Unit is about 5 years old, never had a problem. Now it is not working at all. Totally dead, no lights. There were no previous symptoms, the previous load the day before worked great. Any suggestions? Did the fuse blow? Where is the fuse located and how do I get to it?

It's been a while since I've been into one of these, but hopefully I can get you going in the right direction.
First, I'd make sure the circuit breaker (in your house panel) is not tripped. Flip it off and back on anyway. If still no power, then flip it off once more and continue below.
I think there are 6 screws that hold the front panel of the dishwasher on. I believe they are Torx screws, and you get to them by opening the door. Remove them and the top part that holds the control panel will come loose. Seems to me like it was obvious once you get in there.
Now, using the diagram attached for reference, pull off the plastic cover (4) on the control panel (may not be necessary--can't remember) and look for the thermal fuse (6). Remove it and test for continuity. If it's blown, try replacing just that part.
If it is not blown, it could be the main control board (11) which is around $140.
Good luck,

See if this manual helps: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8010163/Whirlpool_Dishwasher_Service_manual.pdf
Or these: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8010163/Whirlpool_Kenmore%20Dishwashers.zip
Good luck. It sounds like something happened where no power is getting in. You will need a meter. Here is how to use it: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8010163/How%20to%20use%20Test%20Equipment%20Service%20Manu al.pdf
I hope this helps you.
