I recently was asked by my next door nieghbor to watch her four year old son. She is a lpn and is going back to school for her Rn. I will watch him four days a week and hours vary. It will be seven to nine hours a day. He is a wild boy who likes to throw fits. I have not babysat for three years but charged fifty dollars a day (12 hours). I don't know what prices are now. Need to know in a hurry. Thanks.

He doesn't go to a preschool part of the day? How is he wild? Fifty a day sounds like an awful lot.

What's your general location?

Prices vary a lot. Going next door each day would be less than driving 10 miles to sit for 3 hours on Saturday night. I'd say $6/hr; less if he is in pre-school any of that time and you are just waiting. She might not be able to afford more. She might have a tough time with that.

It also varies by location - one of my stepdaughters pays 2/3rds of what the other stepdaughter pays.
