I purchased my dryer in 1999. The top of my dryer is hitting the drum when the dryer is operating. I need to remove the top so I can bump out the top so it doesn't hit anymore. All of the you tube videos, manuals, etc. maintain that slipping a putty knife or flat head screwdriver beneath the end caps will allow me to disengage two clips and the entire top panel should be free of the top of the dryer. My dryer quite clearly has two screws in this area and not the clips. How do I access them to remove the top?
FYI, I have managed to get the front of the top loose and can look beneath it and see the screws, so I'm sure I'm not mistaken. They appear to be holding the end caps on as well. I can find no way short of taking the entire top panel apart and/or the back off the dryer to access those screws and free the top lid of the dryer.
