What do I tools and material do I need to replace a section of drain pipe under the bathroom sink that has a hole in it?
It's the one kind of shaped like a "u".

That is part of the P trap. You will need a latrge diameter wrench or pair of pliers and a replacement trap. If it is brass you will need to use a brass trap, HD, Lowe's< ACe and others carry them. Be very careful with using too much torque! If the rest of the trap is that old, it may twist and break. Can you post a picture so we know what you have, you may be able to convert to PVC.

Is this trap chrome or plastic? My bet's on chrome. Am I correct? Back to you, Tom
