Look at the ROUND function in Excel.

=ROUND(A1*2,0)/2

This formula is not working as it returns answer 0.

Were you careful to use Curlyben's syntax exactly as he posted it?

Alternatively, use the MROUND function:

=mround(cell_reference, 0.5)

why ask for help if you want to complain, weird criteria anyway. You want excel to do the work for you set the value of each cell to a number of places or define a custom value otherwise excel has excellent help regarding its functions
