Does anyone know what the SOL is for residents of Manitoba. What if collection agencies are in other provinces then which provinces SOL would apply? I have credit card, cell phone and unsecured bank loan.

I live in Ontario and am familiar with what collection agencies do, but what does SOL mean?

In the states it varies on the type of debt, anywhere from 2 to 6 years. Has an agency contacted you? Details please.

Manitoba SOL looks to be 2 years.

See here: CanLII - Continuing Consolidation of the Statutes of Manitoba - C.C.S.M. c. L150 (http://www.canlii.org/mb/laws/sta/l-150/index.html)

But, the question is WHEN did this occur? You need to look up the statue that was in effect at the time it happened, which could be as much as 6 years for example.

As for collection agencies…
WHERE did this debt occur? In Manitoba or another province?

I wanted to add, a lot of people ask about the SOL where they are, but once the SOL has been passed you still owe the money, they can still call and send you letters the only thing that has changed is that they can no longer sue you.
