My daughter (originally from Ontario) has ended a 5+ year relationship with the father of her child (born in Newfoundland) nearly a year ago. The father has lied, manipulated and made it extremely difficult for my girls to visit over the past 5 years, much less move to ON.

They are still in NL but may be moving to ON, as he 'says', for job opportunities. He says he will move (he has said this many times before). If they DO move and if he changes his mind, how long can it be established that my daughter and granddaughter are ON residents so they don't have to go back to NL, particularly my grand daughter. They have not formally lived together as family since December of 2011.

As soon as he comes to ON to look (he says he will stay at one of his friend's) can my girls move here, since he has said he would come to work in ON? If he in sincere, there should be no problem for them to move in anticipation of him getting work. What are their rights? He has not paid support or daycare (no financial support whatsoever since January of 2012). My daughter has found a job to support her child and is living in challenging conditions in NL. Living in ON, she can live here with the support of family and friends. She has no one to help her in NL.

Does anyone have a solution or direction to follow?

You need special permission to move from one province to another in Canada?
