Hi -
I gave birth to my son two years ago and at the time had signed a notice informing the provider that I did NOT wish to have any interns or such involved in my care and/or delivery. However, the only people that I saw at the time I was admitted to the hospital for labor were interns; the only time I saw the doctor was after 12 hours of labor when she (Doctor) entered my room to inform me that I would be going in for an emergency C-Sec. During my labor I informed the nurse and intern that I had a lot of pressure on the top of my head and that it felt as if something would burst; they tried to make me believe it was just a normal headache even though I tried explaining to them that it wasn't. I went in for the emergency c-sec and things took a turn for the worst after my delivery; I went into cardiac arrest, had a seizure and then had to be medically induced into a coma in order to be treated. After my discharge from the hospital I requested a copy of my medical file and found out that there are some inconsistencies in the information that was put in the file such as no mention of the pressure-like pain I told them about, no mention about my reminder to the nurse that I requested no interns/medical students and/or such and them stating in my file that they had spoken with my husband (at the hospital) when my husband was out of the country at the time of my delivery. Is there any legal remedy for my case? There was a lot of pain and suffering, especially for my parents who watched me flat line several times before anyone came to my room and I still have a hard time when talking about what happened.
Please help me figure this one out. Thanks.
