Hey, I was wondering about the long term effects of depo provera. I have only had this shot one time and will not be having another because I want to get pregnant. Ive had a regular period while on the shot and before the shot as well. How long will it take me to conceive? Does the fact that my period is regular improve my chances of conceiving? Can I get pregnant while on the shot being that this is the third month after Ive gotten it. HELP

Oh man, what a weighted question! Well, I can give the basics. Yes, having a regular period does indeed help your chances of conception. I can't tell you how long it will take for you to conceive, since EVERYONE is different and your body reacts differently in different circumstances. I personally have never known anyone who wasn't able to conceive after getting the depo provera shot (actually, I know one girl who got pregnant while on it!).

Are you saying this is the third month since getting the shot? If so, then you should be entering the "newly fertile" threshold (or whatever you want to call it) since depo-provera is supposed to last for about 3 months.

Another great source to check are fertility websites that show you how to track your fertile times, it's important to know your most fertile days so you can get pregnant quicker. Good luck.
