I myself am in sort of the same boat. My child's father is not a great father in any way. He has prior records, one is contributing to the delinquency of a minor, the other being that he sold alcohol to a minor during a sting at a convenience store. He doesn't help me with my child, he doesn't even provide groceries for the child. He also is a previous drug addict and I think he may still be doing drugs. He works with one of my family members, however he's close to losing that job. My deal is worrying about how to prove abandonment because he just walks out and doesn't let ANYBODY know where he is at. Honestly he's a bad father. One night he was SUPPOSED to be watching my child while I was working a 12 hour shift at my job, my child walked out the house and went upstairs to child's grandfather. It took him 45 minutes to EVEN wonder where my child was AT!! THEN, instead of looking for my child, he CALLED child's grandfather (turns out he'd fallen ASLEEP while watching my child!! ). WHAT IF MY CHILD HAD WANDERED OUTSIDE AND GOTTEN ABDUCTED??

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. This can lead to confusion. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

Second, what is it you want here? You don't really specify a question. Also how old is the child?

If the child was allowed to leave the home because of lack of supervision, that could be criminal abandonment. As to calling the grandfather, makes sense to me. If the grandfather lived upstairs, that's probably the first call I would make. And how does that not constitute looking for the child?
