I just purchased a used Kenmore Elite front loading washer. My problem is that the system puts the softener in at the wash cycle and the detergent in at the softener cycle.

We've unplugged it over 24hrs hoping it would reset... didn't work. Is there a way to reboot the system or are we going to have to call a repairman? Husband is handy but we are at a loss of what to do. Thanks

Pop the control panel, find the wires for each and switch them on the timer circuit. Sounds like someone opened it up and put the wires back wrong.

I would not have bought that junk. ma0641 is probably correct, but look at the wiring diagram. You are in for a lot of repairs on that model. Buy a good meter, you will be an expert soon. They are always breaking down. No wonder the last owner wanted to sell it.
