The garbage disposal run but sink will not drain. When plunged, water come out of dishwasher overflow. The other side of sink drain fine.

Hi Demckeehan

You could try to disassemble the air gap (dishwasher overflow) plug the vent line with a rag and try to plunge the disposal again, or you may need to disconnect the pipe from the disposal and snake the drain line from there to the blockage.

I'm betting that the disposal has its own PTRAP and that is clogged. If this is the case, you can pull the plug at the bottom of the PTRAP and see if you can clean the PTRAP that way. Otherwise, snaking the drain from the disposal outlet to the blockage should work.

Thanks Mark, The blockage does arrear to be between the disposal and the stub out.. However not all traps have a clean out, ( we call them New York Traps) See image. We don't use them. If there's no plug on the bottom then simply remove the "J" bend from the trap.
