My 11 year old cat whom I have never had ANY problems with has been doing things out of his personallity. First he has been sleeping in my tub, bathroom counters, and in my towel drawer instead of with me like he has since he was 8 weeks old. I have noticed little specks of blood on the counterin the morning. Now today he peed on the kids bench and pooped on on of the girls's play purses. NEVER has he went to the bathroom anywhere but his litter box (that I change 2 times a week). I really don't have money to take him to the vet so I'm really looking for any answers :( Please help me!!

Hello, I had exactly the same problem too but don't worry I'll give you some ideas.

The blood you found might have come from an open wound, check if your cat has cut it's paw, or by it's ears and legs. Id there's no wounds then the blood might have come from his nose, inside his eyes or from his bum. If that's the case then the only answer is to take him to a vet or call a cat sanctuary.

If your cat is not peeing or leaving its waste in the litter tray could be for a number of things, he may not like the gravel you are using, or maybe your cat never made it in time to the litter tray. Maybe your cat was leaving his scent if he was peeing. If he had pooed for no reason then he could have a bowel problem.

If I was you, I'd call the vets just in case, my ideas may not be correct but it may give you some ideas, Thanks and I hope the problem is sorted.

I have a feeling that he is in some degree of pain, and that's one reason why he isn't sleeping with you. If the pain is urinary or anal, the cool tub and cool counter might feel good. When he's sleeping or relaxed, look at his anus and penis as best you can. You might be able to see if blood is coming from one of them. He could be not getting to his litter box in time if he has to go urgently, plus having pain.
He does need the vet... 11 isn't super old for a cat, but it's old enough to start having some older age problems. And there are special diets for kidney health and all sorts of medical conditions.

At the very least your cat may have a urinary tract infection, many times when cats urinate in innapropriate places it is because they are relating the discomfort of the infection with the box.
The problem with male cat is that they sometimes become blocked making for a very sick cat.
Best to have him checked by a vet as it could be related to other issues as stated above.
