In the mid 80s I saw this movie developed in South America not long after the discovery. It had the catholic church and both the Portuguese and Spanish governments involved in a series of political relations and with the folks future in their hands. What I remember the most is almost at the end when a Cardinal knowing that his decision will mean the worst one to the people that lived in the area, he anyway, for political reasons, gives his okay to the transferring of a big chunk of Spanish land to Portugal (what today is Brazil). I really wish to kow the name so I could watch it again.
