The brake lights are working, but the tail lights and license plate light is not working.
What will cause this? Thanks for your help

They operate on a completely different circuit. Different ground points and different power feed. You will need a readable schematic and a way to trace power and ground to verify both.
Start by checking all fuses and circuit breakers under the hood and under the dash. There may be a problem with the tail lamp relay (which provides power to both of those circuits) so at least make certain the relay's are in tightly.
Do the front park lamps work properly?
Does the high mount brake lamp work properly?

The front park lamps don't work, dash light dimmer doesn't work (The dash board lights up but I can't get it to dim) and the shift light wear the gears are doesn't work. They all went out at the same time. (My car was hit in the back very hard and that's when everything went out). The high mount brake lamp works properly.
Thanks for all your help

That makes me think it needs to go back to the shop that did the repairs after the hit. They may have missed a ground point or a loose connector some where.
