Can anyone help to name the following TV movie (in about 4 parts)?
I've watched a TV movie in the late 90's, it should be a US production. The story was about a psychiatrist hired to help a very rich, young, and pretty lady who had suicidal tendency (or some mental disorder). He spent a lot of time and efforts, through getting involved with her life, he successfully cured her, and in the process, fell in love with her. He also had got to live the lifestyle of a rich man due to his relationship with his patient. Unfortunately, the lady got tired of him eventually, and turned her attention to another man. The TV movie was shown in 4 sessions, making it almost 6-8 hours in total. This series was made in a very tasteful manner, with nice costumes and beautiful settings. The acting was great, with a tint of melancholy. I'm not very sure if the period was in the 30's or contemporary. The last scene was unforgettable, where the girl was now having a good time with her new lover and party by the sea (or a pool), the doctor kept watching them at a distance. Her new lover asked her if she wanted him to be sent away, she said no, it's his duty to watch over me... (something like that). And then the ending was the blue water surface with ripple and small waves, perpetually.
