I have an ejector pump which is connected to my main sewer line which also handles the rain water from my gutters. I also have a check valve which closes the main line when it tries to back up from the cities main line. Lately when the check valve closes and the pit fills up the pump kicks on but doesn't eject the water like it use to, it just continues to run not actually ejecting the water, so the pit never really empties. The pump just runs and runs.

Think about it! The good part about a sewer line check valve is that when the city main backs up the check valve closes and prevents flooding.
The bad thing about a sewer line check valve is when it's closed you can't discharge anything from your house including the ejector pump. My advice? Turn the pump off until the check valve opens. Good luck, Tom
