I have an open sore on my right hip that I thought was a boil. It finally opened up and had a LOT of drainage. Now three days later it is leaking stool for the wound. It is very sore but I am not sure that this problem warrants going to the emergency room. I called my primary doc but can't be seen until oct. 1st. I am 60 yrs. Old and female

Hi Laverneschoff - I will assume that you meant "three days later it is still leaking from the wound"... - getting a Dr. appointment is the route I would take too, it is unfortunate that you have to wait so long, is there a walk in clinic you can go to?

No not a typo... stool is coming out of the sore.

If there is stool coming out of the sore, this would be considered a medical emergency and you should seek treatment ASAP.

Yes stool coming out can be life threatening, so go now. If it is merely other discharge then a walk in clinic. Stool? I would not even shut the computer off as I ran out the door.

I don't know how "stool" could be coming out of the hip and not the abdomen.

Yeah - how is that physically possible?
So, lavern, you called your doctor, told them "there is stool coing out of my hip", and they said " hmm, okay, we'll see you in a month..."? Am I missing something?
