My husband won't let me move out. I told him 4 months ago, after years and years of emotional, verbal & at times physical abuse that I couldn't remain in a relationship w a man I was scared of. As he's been out of work for nearly two years, our financial situation has been precarious (I have a pretty good full time job; but it's not enough to support us & our 2 boys, who are 4 & 10). He begged me to keep living with him as long as could afford it. Well, we can't! My parents had to give me 700$ 3 weeks ago just to be able to pay my utilities this month, and my mother had to take my 10 yo back-to-school shopping. My parents have offered to let me & the boys live with them, and my ex is refusing to let us go. My 10 yo is crying, saying he wants to live with both his parents. If I stay with this man much longer I'm afraid I'll lose my mind. He's promising we can live as roommates. What do I do?

He can't keep you against your will. If that's what he's doing, call the police.

You are an adult. How is he stopping you from moving? If he is laying a guilt rip on you, that's your issue.

If you want to move you pick up and move. Then file for divorce.
