I have a fridgidaire electric range that has 2 non functioning burner coils. I pulled them both out and went to Home depot and they had 2 varieties. One had a small flat end (almost figure 8 shaped- like 2 small flat squares connected with a narrower part -which is like the ones I pulled out and the other had a little circle of wire about 1/2" in diameter. They were about $20. for the 6" and $30 for the
8". I was not sure if either would be the correct replacement so I called an appliance parts place in another state and gave my model # and they sent me what they said would fit but they also have the small circle at the end, not the flat plate like the ones that came out of the stove (and they cost 80 and $90). My questions are:- do I have to replace the flat plate with a flat plate or would the flat plate and the circle be interchangeable? - and is it necessary I stay with a fridgidaire product or would on that looks the same do the job? My model # is RS35BAL*0. Serial # 40CJ 0798

As long as the plug prongs fit into the socket on the stove it does not matter about the shape. Sometimes companies modify little things like the plug prongs to make it last longer and fit better. Either shape will work.
