At 18 you aren't emancipated.. you are legally an adult... and can sign contracts and be legally held liable for the concequences.

How old is this person? Usually you can't sign a lease until you're an adult, age 18 or older (which then begs the question, why is emancipation necessary?).

The question is can a person who has not been emancipated move out and sign a lease. The answer is no. You have to be of legal age to sign a lease.

Please don't post the same question multiple times. When a person is 18 they reach the age of majority and can enter into legal contracts. Before that they are a minor and cannot enter into legal contracts like leases. Emancipation is a process where a person gets a court to declare them adults before 18.

What does your child support order say? Does it stop at 18? Usually if it goes longer there is a requirement for them to be actively enroled in school AND attending it.

I would go back to family court and ask to have it amended since she is not in school and has moved out on her own.

Don't simply just stop,

At 18 in Nebraska when child signs own lease is non custodial parent still required to pay ex wife support for that child who left that house and signed their own lease at age 18

Whether the child has signed a lease or not really doesn't enter into it.

This latest question doesn't stipulate that the child has been emancipated. If he/she has not, yes the NCP would still have to pay. If the child has been emancipated, the NCP would have to go to court to get the CS order modified. The chances of modification being ordered are good in my opinion.

THis is what happens when you make multiple threads and ask seperatate parts of a question... this all ties bac to THIS thread on the other part of the question, and why we have site rules about ONE thread per topic.

Fine, but the other thread doesn't add anything. Neither thread says whether the child has been emanciipated, which is the important question.

I agree here which is why I've merged all your threads yet again. Please keep any followups within this thread.

The first thing you need to do is check the support order. What does it say about when support ends.

If support ends when the child is on their own, then signing a lease on their own should end support.
