Car shut off and back on quickly while driving.Sometimes it will not start when it gets hot. Been hearing a chirping noise, so I replace cam syc, also sensor.. Did not fix the issues.Replace crankshaft sensor, ran find for 4 hours, same issues.. Did some more diagnostic and when it's does not start, if I put it in neutral it will but not park. Then it quits altogether until it cools off.. No check engine lights on any wear.. Any ideals? 02 Ford taurus

I would focus on the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS), since it sounds like a neutral safety issue. It may need adjustment and/or replacement. It's located on top of the transmission--the shift linkage goes right to it.

Additional thoughts:
If the engine cuts off, when it gets too hot, there may be a thermal overload cutoff to protect the aluminum heads. Check this out--some cars have them. If it does, then focus on solving the overheating problem.
Check the ignition switch for wear, pitting, or melting.

My wife drives this vehicle, so I have to start to see things I did not know of... This maybe coincidental but when it change to the last gear, the transmission sort of jerks a little. Also the ignition switch sort of hard to turn.. Squirted some PB blaster silicon inside, works a little easier.. I also adjust the transmission cable to TRS.. I going to try this and see.
Again it only happens when the engine get hot.. Shuts down driving along, and fires right back up, like a hickup.. If you shut if off after this happen, will not start, and have to wait 1/2 hour or so.. Then as soon as you put it in gear, it dies. But if you hold your brakes and gives it gas it stays running. This is driving me nuts.. I got to fix this soon, she is driving my truck.. OMG
Thanks again
