I have an 8 year old kenmore refrigerator that is not cooling in the refrierator or freezer the temp seems to have gone up and won't go down.

The first thing to check is the condenser coil. Remove back cover and front kick plate so you can see all of it. Unplug unit. Spray down coils and fan blades with spray soap and use toothbrush on fan blades, if necessary. Then wash down with water hose nozzle and vacuum up water with wet-vac. Clean out the drain pan, too. Let dry some and put rear cover back on before starting back up. Most failures where people have to buy new refrigerators are due to dirt in the coils. After it runs for 24 hours write back and let us know if anything changed.
