I have a 2003 Honda Accord EX V6. I was driving home from work last night and I stopped to fill up on gas. The air conditioning was working fine on my way home. I turned the car off and pumped my gas. When I was getting ready to leave, I turned the car back on and the air conditioning is suddenly not working at all! The control panel says that the AC is on, but no air is blowing out whatsoever. I turned the AC on and off, and still nothing works. Help!
Also, before the air went out, the air conditioning would seem as if it wasn't getting cold when I was idling or in stop and go traffic, but when I drove on the freeway at a constant rate of speed, the air would seem to work properly. I don't know what the problem is with that either. It also would seem to be cooler on one side versus the other.

Sounds like the freon (134a) is low. Stay away from the DIY cans of freon with a hose and gauge on top. Go to someone who knows what they are doing and who has a manifold gauge set. Better yet, take it and have it recovered, vacuumed, and refilled. Then, you know it has the proper amount of freon in it. If that does not solve the problem, the compressor may be shot, since you said it was only working properly at highway speeds. That is often the tip off a worn out compressor. Compressors tend to last around 100,000 miles.

Thank you sir. I have just about 175,000 miles on it, and I'm not sure if the previous owner had it replaced or not. I'll check the blower motor transistor first and replace it before I go to the more expensive compressor. What are suggestions of places besides the Honda dealership to refill on freon?
